St Christopher Pendants - Your Questions Answered

What's the difference between gold, silver, rose gold and white gold St Christopher pendants? +
  • 9ct Gold: Classic yellow gold, durable and hypoallergenic
  • Sterling Silver: Bright white finish, more affordable, may require occasional polishing
  • 9ct Rose Gold: Warm pinkish tone, romantic and unique
  • 9ct White Gold: Contemporary silvery-white finish, more premium than silver
Do St Christopher pendants come with a chain? +

No - our St Christopher pendants are sold separately from chains, giving you the flexibility to pair them with your existing chain or choose one from our chain collection to create your perfect combination. We also have a full collection of St Christopher Necklaces.

How long does shipping take? +

Our standard shipping (Royal Mail Tracked 48) usually takes around 2-3 days. We offer an upgraded shipping service, (Royal Mail Tracked 24), which takes 1-2 days. These timings are just estimates, however.
If you need your item urgently, we also offer Next Working Day shipping, which will guarantee your item will arrive next day, Mon-Sat. You will need to be in to sign for your order in this case.

If you place your order before 4pm on a weekday, it will always get shipped the same day.

Are your St Christophers Hallmarked? +

All our St Christophers that are above the legal hallmarking weight will contain a UK hallmark. This limit is 7.78g for sterling silver and 1g for 9ct gold. You may also see other marks such as .925, or .375. These all relate to the metal purity - they aren't a hall mark as such, but simply show the purity of the metal. '375' is found on some 9ct Gold items and refers to '37.5% pure gold' - the definition of 9ct Gold. '925' is found on on some sterling silver pieces and refers to '92.5% pure silver' - the definition of sterling silver.

You may see a few = different symbols in our hallmarks. These are: the sponsor’s mark, millesimal fineness mark and the assay office mark. 'JB', the sponsors mark, refers to us - our parent company Jewellerybox ltd.
The fineness mark, is likely either '375' or '925' for our St Christophers, as all are either 9ct gold, or sterling silver. Finally, the assay office mark - this refers to the Assay Office that hallmarked the item. We use the Edinburgh assay office, which has a stamp of a three-towered castle. There are Assay offices in Sheffield, Birmingham and London which all have different stamps.

Read our Hallmarking page to find out more.

Can you engrave logos or custom designs? +

Yes - logo engraving is possible on many styles. Get in touch with the artwork for a quote and confirmation of compatibility. We are also able to send a proof prior to engraving to ensure you're happy with how it looks.

Can I wear my St Christopher in the shower or pool? +

9ct gold St Christophers can be worn in the shower - soaps and shampoos won't harm them. Sterling silver St Christophers are best removed before showering, as soaps and shampoos can accelerate tarnishing. For both metals, avoid chlorinated pools and salt water, as harsh chemicals can dull the finish and affect the metal over time.

What chain should I buy for my St Christopher pendant? +

We recommend:

  • 16"-18" for a higher neckline look
  • 18"-20" for a mid-chest length
  • 20"-24" for a longer, statement look
Will engraving fade or wear off? +

No. Engraving is done with a laser into the metal, so it will not wash off or fade. It will give a deep, clear engraving that will last. Normal care will keep it looking crisp for years.

What does wearing a St Christopher mean? +

St Christopher is the patron saint of travellers. Traditionally, wearing a St Christopher is believed to offer protection during journeys and safe passage. Many people gift them to loved ones embarking on trips, gap years, or new life chapters. For more information, read our blog post "What does a St Christopher Symbolise?"
